Danny Provence, age 73, passed away peacefully at his home on April 24, 2026. He was born on December 10, 1952, in Cave City, Arkansas, and was raised in Derby, where he spent much of his life.
Danny was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He believed in living life to the fullest and often reminded those around him not to wait until their "golden years" to enjoy life - encouraging everyone to do what they love while they can.
For over 40, years, Danny owned and operated Elite Pool and Spa, where he built and serviced swimming pools with pride and dedication. He truly loved his work and took great satisfaction in the craftsmanship and relationships he built along the way. When his sons were old enough, he brought them alongside him, passing down his knowledge, skills, and work ethic - something he was incredibly proud of.
Danny was talented handyman who could fix about anything. Outside of work, he enjoyed working on cars, attending races, cooking, spending time at the lake, and most importantly, being with his family. He loved all of his children and grandchildren deeply and was proud of each and every one of them.
In his later years, Danny found a new kind of enjoyment on the road. He and his dog "Megan" spent time traveling across the United States. Danny acted as a "human GPS" helping guide oversized and heavy loads from job site to job site. While Megan was his trusted co-pilot on the passenger side. Danny loved the open road, chatting on the CB radio with his buddy and fellow truck drivers, and the freedom that came with the journey.
Danny will be remembered for his ability to listen without judgement, his fun-loving spirit, his kindness, and his generosity. He had a way of making people feel heard and cared for, and that legacy will live on through everyone whose life he touched.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Garlin and Hydee Provence, Altha and Ray Hoggard; his brother, Teddy Provence; his sister, Belenda Crawford; and the love of his life, Zoeann Provence.
Danny leaves behind his children, Stacey (Mo) Hamed, Danielle (Kevin) Alfaro, Shaylyn Philpott, Jerry Provence, Justin (Cheryl) Provence, Brianna (Travis) Provence, Tamera (Jeff) Eskins, and Joyce (Matt) Jabara; his sister, Teresa (Doug) Burns; and many grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, May 4, 2026 at Smith Family Mortuary, 1415 North Rock Road, Derby, Kansas 67037.
