Daniel Robert Yoder

Daniel Robert Yoder was born in Newton, Kansas on October 29, 1958. Daniel passed away unexpectedly on July 9, 2026 while vacationing in Colorado. Dan attended Newton schools for most of his school years but graduated from Hesston High School in 1977. Dan then attended Hutchinson Community College from 1977-1980. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Emporia State University in 1982, his Bachelors of Arts in Education from Emporia State in 1993. He was granted his Masters of Education with a major in Special Education from Wichita State University in 1996.
Daniel worked in the oil business with his father during the 1980's in Oklahoma. He then began teaching students in Wichita, Goddard, Haysville and ended his teaching career in Derby retiring in 2022. Dan also had a lawn service business. He very much enjoyed visiting with his clients and loved just being outside.
Daniel played baseball from the time he was a little boy through college winning several awards throughout his high school and college pitching career. You could always count on Dan for hitting one over the fence. He was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan. He also enjoyed competing in Fantasy Football with his brother David.
One of his favorite past times was tinkering in the garage making many wonderful wood projects and fixing anything that someone would bring by the house. His granddaughter Brynleigh was the joy of his life going to all of her Taekwondo practices and traveling to regional and national competitions watching her win medals with a smile so big you would think his face would break.
Daniel is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Helen Lucille (Pratt) Yoder. Survivors include his wife Luetta; daughter Amber; granddaughter Brynleigh; grandson Aspen; sister Sue (Rob) Lehrman of Canton, KS; brother David (Lori) of Newton; sister Julie Yoder of Shawnee, KS. Several beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. And his little dog buddy and riding companion Rosco.
Memorial services will be held at Smith Mortuary, 7031 S. Broadway, Haysville, KS. beginning at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
