Cook, Daniel “Dan” A., 56, passed away on July 17, 2026. He was born in Lawrence, Kansas to Gary and Carol Cook on December 12, 1969.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Lloyd and Deloris Cook, & Roy and Nettie Blosser, also by his father, Gary Cook and by his mother-in-law Linda Rider.

Daniel is survived by his mother Carol Cook, his loving wife of over 30 years, Linda Cook; 4 children, Krista (Colby) Nunn, Kayla (Mustapha) Mboob, Kelsey (David) Ormiston, Justin (Olivia) Cook; 8 grandchildren, Jacob (Unique), Kenslei & Lucas Nunn, Claire, Emersyn, & Thayer Ormiston, Adelynn & MJ Mboob; 1 great-granddaughter, Khamaya Nunn; 1 brother, Doug (Corie) Cook; 3 sisters-in-law; Tammie (Tim) Cook, Gayla Wittenberg and Angie Wittenburg, Many nieces and nephews including; Noah (Abbie), Griffin, Madelynn, & Carson Cook, Tony, Amanda, & Tyson Cook, Cody & Taylor Wilkinson, & Nicholas Craig, as well as a host of other family and friends that will miss him dearly.

Dan was a proud U.S. Army veteran, a true American patriot, and a man whose life was defined by service, hard work, and unwavering devotion to his family. To those who knew him, he was the kind of person you could always count on—steady, dependable, and always willing to put the needs of others before his own. Dan was a devoted husband, a loving father, a cherished son and brother, and an incredible stepfather. When he married the love of his life, Linda, he didn't just marry her—he embraced her children as his own. From day one he loved and accepted them without hesitation, and he raised them with the same unconditional love, guidance, and support he gave to his own children. To them, he wasn't just a stepdad—he was Dad.

For more than 25 years, Dan proudly served as Grocery Manager at Dillons, earning the respect of coworkers and customers alike through his unmatched work ethic. He rarely missed a day of work, never shied away from responsibility, and believed that providing for his family was one of life's greatest honors.

Dan's legacy is one of quiet strength, unwavering integrity, selfless love, and a heartthat always made room for others. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

A memorial service will be held at Smith Family Mortuary, 1415 North Rock Road, Derby, Kansas 67037. The date and time will be announced in the coming weeks.
