Dale Sutton boarded the train to heaven on February 18, 2017. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Dale had touched throughout his very memorable life.
Dale grew up in Ensign, Kansas. The small, rural town life taught Dale the importance of the four F’s; faith, family, friends and farming. Dale carried these morals with him for the rest of his life.
Family was always very important in Dale’s life. This beautiful family blossomed into 15 grandchildren and 6 great grand children. Each and everyone of his family had their own special place in Dale’s heart. Dale married his lifelong partner, Nancy, on October 2, 1955. The two raised three beautiful children, Julie, Gary and Sandy.
Dale took the hard work ethic that he learned from the farm through life with him. He spent many years working for Pepsi-cola, BJ manufacturing and Trinity Senior Living. But as a farmer, you learn quick: “You don’t get anything that you don’t work hard for”- Evans Thomas. Dale’s roots were planted on his family farm, where he learned many, many life lessons and a lifetime of memories. Through the good times and the bad, Dale loved the farm, and he enjoyed talking about it after he had retired.
Naturally, from being a farmer, Dale had a green thumb. He enjoyed looking after his large gardens and flower buds, especially his rose bushes and sunflowers. In fact, most mornings he spent time with his favorite cat Sammy, on the back porch drinking coffee and enjoying his flowers. He was also active with the boyscouts, where he was the scout master of Troop 168. But above all, Dale enjoyed building his model train layouts. He was very proud of his huge, breathtaking layouts that were once featured by KAKE News and The Wichita Eagle.
It is impossible to tell Dale’s memorable life story in this short amount of space and time. He touched so many of us in many different ways. We will all miss and love you, Papa with the choo choo’s, and we know that your train ride to Heaven has taken you home.
