Curtis Earl Smith,81, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 10th, 2024 in Derby, KS. Son of Earl and Aldea (Archambo) Smith, he was born January 10th, 1943 in Nowata, OK.
After graduating from Nowata High School he married his high school sweetheart, Sharon (Boley) Smith on June 29,1962. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1962-1982 as a Master Sergeant/ E7 and he continued his government work as a civilian contractor until his retirement in 2004. He and Sharon enjoyed traveling, and their adventures took them all over the world. After retirement he enjoyed time on the lake fishing, carpentry, and serving in his church where he was an ordained deacon. Teaching Sunday School, serving, and sharing the gospel was at the heart of who Curtis was. He dedicated time to serving Gideons International as well as his local church. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Caroll (Smith) Tomlinson.
Curtis is survived by his wife, Sharon (Boley) Smith and children, Jeffery Smith Sr. (Barbara) of Broken Arrow, OK and Angela Barton (Alvin) of Derby, KS, and 7 grandchildren; Melissa Galliart, Alan Barton, Jeffery (Scooter) Smith Jr, Seth Howland, Shay Howland, Savannah Smith, and Spencer Smith; and his sisters Judith (Smith) Ostrander and husband Jack of McKinney, TX, and Toni Harjo of Bartlesville, OK. He also leaves behind 5 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Services will be held at a later date.
