Curtis James Carson

Curtis James “Kit” Carson, age 53, passed away January 20, 2014. Memorial service 11:00am Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Smith Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby. Born November 10th, 1960 in Wellington, Kansas. Kit was employed by Carson Bank, volunteered for the Special Olympics of Kansas and enjoyed time hiking, hunting and fishing with family and friends. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit and kind soul. Kit is preceded in death by his parents, Frank L. and Leslie Jean Carson. He is survived by his siblings, Margaret C. (Robert) Houston of Andover, KS, Frank L. (Kris) Carson III of Mulvane, KS, Catherine C. (Seth) Leadbeater of St. Louis, MO; nieces and nephews, Kristine H. (Marshall) McCallum, Robert C. Houston, Jonathan A. Houston, C. Jeffrey (Jennifer) Carson, Frank L. (Kourtney) Carson IV, Cale P. (Julie) Carson, Katelyn E. Carson, Carolyn C. Leadbeater and Elizabeth A. Leadbeater. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with the Mulvane Education Foundation, Inc., 628 E. Mulvane St., Mulvane, KS 67110 and Free Spirits - Special Olympics Kansas Local Program, 801 E. Market St., Derby, KS 67037.
