Connor Dane Chavez-Garcia, 15, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, while at his home in Peck, Kansas.
Born July 28, 2010 in Wichita, he was the son of Sara and Marcos Chavez-Garcia. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his siblings Marlie, Brody and Sophia Chavez-Garcia; grandparents Lisa Bailey, Maria and Daniel Rosenkrance; Aunt Jackie and Uncle William Rosenkrance and cousins Ian and Lily Rosenkrance, Aunt Carrie and Uncle Walter Rosenkrance and cousin Aiden Rosenkrance, Aunt Amber Gruenewald and Uncle Erik Rosenkrance and cousins Ariana and Austin Rosenkrance, Uncle Kyle Rosenkrance and cousin Damon Rosenkrance. Connor loved his family and his friends.
Connor loved being involved with sports and activities such as football, soccer, wrestling, swimming, bowling, skating, gaming, listening to music, dancing, singing, tubing and being on the lake, and riding four wheelers. He was always down for random adventures and was fearless. Connor was the first kid to jump off Big Cliffee on a family vacation at Beaver Lake. His sportsmanship was unmatched. He had a lot of respect for his coaches and teachers. Many of them would say he was very coachable, respectful and always willing to give it his all.
Connor always had a lending ear for his friends no matter what time of day. He was always open to meet and be friends with others around him. Connor was kind and always had a helping hand to others around him without being asked. He had a calm and cool demeanor that made it easy to be around him. He was an example around friends, but also mature enough to hang with the adults either playing games or singing karaoke. Connor loved being social and active with his school and in the community. Connor was respectful and was the most humble - win or lose. He was overall happy and loved to smile and gave the biggest and best hugs. Connor would give you the shirt off his back and treated everyone equally no matter what social group you were in.
Connor’s music taste varied from country, rap, rock to almost anything in between.
Connor was an easy kid to raise his entire life. He did not like getting in trouble and always wanted to do the right thing. He learned at a young age that doing the right thing will bring positive opportunities. Connor cared about the way he presented himself and always wanted to look his best at all times, even if that meant delaying grandparents and his siblings so he could finish shaving.
Connor had plans to go to college for either soccer or wrestling. He was an empath and wanted a career that helped others.
Visitation with his family will be 5-8pm Thursday, April 16, with Memorial Services 2pm Friday, April 17, all at Smith Family Mortuary Chapel in Mulvane. A memorial has been established with the Mulvane High School.
Connor will be greatly missed. He had an impact on those around him that is irreplaceable. He will never be forgotten.
