Coleena Lynn Post (from her dog’s perspective)
Coleena Lynn Post loved all living creatures, but especially me and my canine brethren. She was born May 2, 1947, in Wichita, KS, to humans Harry (Gene) and Maxine Doyle. As a young pup, she attended Wichita schools and graduated from Wichita South in 1965. Coleena married David Oldham on June 13, 1965. Her son, David Eugene (Gene), arrived January 8, 1967. Gene inherited her playful spirit and the two shared an ornery and unique relationship. She spent a number of years working in accounting at Pizza Hut, relocating from Wichita to Sheboygan, Wisconsin and then to Kansas City, Kansas. We moved back to Wichita in 1985 to care for her aging mother after her father passed away. Upon returning to Wichita, Coleena became a passionate supporter of Kansas Specialty Dog Service. It was there that she met the kindest man in the world and fellow dog lover, Roger Post. Their 2003 wedding featured the bride, groom, and seven dogs. She loved to tell the story of my four-legged friends and me barking when the pastor asked for objections. Coleena was fluent in dog and knew we were offering our approval. Coleena and Roger operated Sit/Stay Kennel and remained active members of KSDS where they trained many service dogs. Coleena was a member of Mulvane Christian Church. She loved her quilting community and didn’t even mind when her masterpieces collected my fur. Coleena enjoyed family, photography, nature, and animals. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roger, her son, David Eugene Oldham, and a stepson, Mitchell Post.Survivors include stepsons, Marshall Post (Susan) of Wichita and Mark Post (Irene) of Topeka; eight grandchildren, and many great grandchildren; two brothers, Ron Doyle (Pam) of Derby and Danny Doyle (Kris) of Wichita; many nieces and nephews; and too many dogs to name. We will be celebrating her life in true canine fashion on Friday, May 6, at 1:00 PM at Mulvane Christian Church. Visitation will be Thursday, May 5, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Smith Family Mortuary, Mulvane, KS. Coleena never took life too seriously, and expressed her wishes that people celebrate her life by doing something that makes them happy. We never knew a kinder voice, a sweeter spirit, or more loving pats.
