Rev. Clayton Wallace Durbin entered eternal rest on August 8, 2025, at the age of 95
years. He was born in Los Angeles, California on March 12, 1930. He faithfully served
several churches in California and Kansas, impacting countless lives through his
ministry. Pastor Durbin will be remembered for his compassion and commitment to
providing comfort to his many congregations. He will also be remembered for the love
and support he provided his family.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1948 to 1952 and was a veteran of the
Korean War. He was honorably discharged and studied for the ministry at Los Angeles
Baptist College and Talbot Theological Seminary. He was ordained in 1965 and
pastored churches in Hayward, CA, Anaheim, CA, Wichita, KS and Goddard, KS.
Pastor Durbin will be remembered for his thoughtful and scholarly approach to sharing
his faith. He will also be remembered for his love of dogs, amateur (ham) radio,
Lawrence Welk, and the Andy Griffith show. He was an avid tennis fan and played
competitively for Los Angeles Junior City College.
He was the loving husband of Donna Durbin for 67 years. She preceded him in death
on December 18, 2024. He was the father of Kathleen (David) Greger, David Durbin,
Daniel Durbin and Sharon (Henry) Durbin, grandfather of nine and great grandfather of
nine.
Pastor Durbin was laid to rest with his wife in the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery – Winfield
on August 12, 2025. A celebration of his life will be held in the near future in Wichita,
KS.
