Claud Monroe Smith, 83 left his earthly home to be with our Lord, September 28, 2014. Visitation Oct. 1, 2-8 PM, family present 5-7PM at Smith Mortuary, 1415 N Rock Road, Derby. Funeral service 3 PM Thursday, Oct. 2 at Crosswind Community Church, (former First Baptist Church) 208 N. Georgie, Derby. Claud was born to Robert & Winnie Smith March 23, 1931 in Calvin, OK. After 43 years at the Boeing Co. as a photo/print lab clerk and manager he retired to a life of gardening, travel and enjoying his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, awesome grandpa, the best brother, uncle and friend. Preceded in death by his parents and Margie Smith (2010), wife of 51 years. Survived by Nancy, wife of 19 months, Children Debbie Leiker (Larry), Vicki Dicks (Don), Cheryl Smith (Clint Anderson), Doug Smith; Grandchildren Matt & Ryan Leiker, Robbie Garlick, Josh Dicks, Jenny Amado, Krista Heincker, Caitlin Cooper & Krystal Smith; Great-Grandchildren Derek, Gabriel, Alex, Kashius, Jayce, Isabelle, Sister Flossie Linscott, and Brother Charles Pierecy (Joanne); Nancy’s children, J.D. Friess (Linda), Christina Bealmear (Allen) and Susan Friess. Memorials have been established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S Market St, Wichita, KS 67202 and Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr, Tampa, FL 33607.
