Clarence Aden Griffin

Clarence Aden Griffin, 82, passed away peacefully at home on April 28, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 11, 1942 in Wichita, Kansas, to Virgil Griffin and Lula Mount.

Clarence was a devoted provider for his family and a proud veteran, having honorably served in the U.S. Army. He and his wife, Wanda, owned and operated Express Lube and Oil in Derby, Kansas, for 26 years. After retiring from the business, Clarence continued to enjoy working with Enterprise in Wichita.

He was an active member of his community, serving as a Cubmaster for the Cub Scouts and later as a Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts. In his later years, Clarence found joy in watching old westerns and spending time with his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Clarence married Wanda Griffin in 1978, and together they shared 47 wonderful years.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Griffin; sons, Christopher Griffin (Donna) of Wichita, John Griffin (Hailey) of Albuquerque, Steven Griffin of Park City, and Jimmie Griffin of Wichita; daughter, Wendy May of Wichita; 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Geraldine Hoover; brother, Gary Griffin; and niece, Karen Houvious.

Visitation will be held at Smith Family Mortuaries, 1415 N. Rock Rd, Derby, KS 67037, on Sunday, May 4, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Funeral service will take place at Bridgeport Missionary Baptist Church, 6161 S. Meridian, Wichita, KS 67217, on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 1:30 p.m., with interment to follow at Waco Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bridgeport Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund.
