Derby - Cherie Suzanne Hodges 73, died Monday, December 11th, 2023 at Wesley Medical Center She was born December 6th, 1950 to Donatello and Ruth (Boyer) Ashby in Tulsa., OK

Cherie was raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a graduate of Tulsa Memorial High School. She met her husband, Brian, at The University of Tulsa in 1970, and they were married in July 1971. Brian entered the United States Air Force in 1972, and she accompanied him on assignments to Wisconsin, Florida, Texas, and Kansas. While in Texas, Cherie earned her Bachelor Degree in Nursing from Texas Christian University and began her nursing career in Wichita, Kansas at Wesley Medical Center. After retiring from her nursing career, Cherie dedicated herself to her family. She was actively involved in providing care and support of grandson, Evan, right up to her untimely death. Cherie was always a family person first, a nurse second, and a good friend to many. Cherie liked to create fashion jewelry for herself and others, attend cultural events in and around Wichita, and help Brian cheer on his favorite sports teams.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, brother (Jack), father-in-law (John Hodges), and mother-in-law (Elaine Hodges).

Cherie is survived by her husband Brian, son Christopher, brother Donatello (Buddy), grandson Evan, niece Courtney Cook, nephew Matthew Ashby.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 19th, 2023, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Smith Family Mortuary 1415 N. Rock Rd. Derby, Kansas 67037. No Service will be held.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wichita Botanica, Wichita Symphony, Music Theatre Wichita.
