Chaz Michael Parrott

DERBY - Parrott, Chaz Michael, age 25, of Derby passed away unexpectedly on June 15. Visitation 1-8pm Thursday, June 21st, with family present 6-8pm; funeral service 11am Friday, June 22nd, both at Smith Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Road, Derby. Chaz was born on February 8, 1987 in Wichita to a loving family. He attended Derby elementary schools and Derby High School, graduating in 2005. During his young life he loved and participated in sports including the usual soccer, football and baseball. Most notably, he developed a great skill in shooting sports, and qualified and attended many National level championships including the Junior Olympics, twice. Upon graduating, he was awarded a NCAA athletic scholarship to UMKC where he was a member of their rifle team. He later attended Wichita State University and was currently a student at Cowley College where he was studying computer science. He was a lifelong fan of Wichita State athletics and attended as many games as he could and followed them avidly and, even though he was not currently a student there, he always thought of himself as a “Shocker.” He is survived by His parents, Christopher and Jennifer (Richardson) Parrott, a sister, Kara Parrott and a brother, Brett Parrott all of Derby and his fiancée Lisa Kristan of Wichita. He is also survived by grandparents, Larry and Linda Richardson of Derby and Jerry and JoAnn Parrott of North Charleston, SC, uncles Jeff (Dana) and Matt (Jana) Parrott, Brad Richardson and Rogelio Cerda, aunts Julie and Bethany Parrott as well as 12 cousins. Chaz was the light of our lives and the best friend and a well-loved “Big Brother” to his many friends. He had a heart of gold and loved his life and family. He was a sensitive and loving person to all who knew him. His passing has left a hole in our hearts and we were all blessed to have had him in our lives for the short time he was with us.
