Charles E. Hebert

Wichita - Hebert, Charles Edward “Charlie” 88, passed away Monday, June 19th, 2023. He was born October 20th, 1934 to Emile and Alice (Dionne) Hebert in Springfield, Massachusetts. Charlie joined the Army as soon as he could sign up and served about 3 years. He then joined the Air Force where he served a total of 20 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1973. He was proud of his Military career. He served in various countries including the Vietnam Conflict.

He married and had 4 children, 2 sons and 2 daughters. After the Air Force he spent another 25 years at Learjet in Wichita, Kansas. He met and married the love of his life, Mary Ann. He was the love of her life as well. They adored each other for more than 40 years and spent most of the time joined at the hip. Together they enjoyed the families they brought together. They traveled a lot with each other and occasionally with friends and family. He was able to enjoy playing racquet ball and running well into his late 70’s when he had to give it up due to health issues. Once his health prevented him from sports and exercise, he enjoyed shooting guns at the gun range and farm.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Emile and Alice Hebert, his brother Ed Hebert, sister-in-law Gloria Hebert and son in law Ron Syers.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann of Wichita, four children, Sherry Novak of Wichita, KS, Michael Hebert (Joan) of Andover, KS, Denise Lostlen of Enid, OK and Bruce Hebert (Mandy) of Newton, KS. Step children, Rick Baker (Becky) of Kansas City, MO, Carol Milligan (Dean) of Mulvane, KS, Janet Lusch (AJ) of Wichita, KS and Lauri Marksberry (Jimmy) of Owensboro, KY. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and great nieces.

Visitation Friday June 23rd, 11:30am-1:00pm, followed by Funeral Service at 1pm, both at Smith Family Mortuary, Mulvane, 501 SE Louis Blvd, Mulvane, KS 67110; burial with full USAF Military Honors to follow at Mulvane Cemetery.
