Cecil R Barnes

Cecil R. Barnes, 76, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2014. He was born August 15, 1937, to Wilbur and Eva Mae (Frans) Barnes in Winfield, KS. He worked as a farmer, and Border Collie breeder. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Karen Edwards. Cecil is survived by his children, Kyle Barnes, Carey (Tamra) Barnes, and Cina (Mike) Shirley; grandchildren, Brant Barnes, Cara (Spencer) Linville, Lane Shirley, and Dalton Barnes; great-grandchild, Braylon Barnes; siblings, Shirley Hunt, Maureen (George) Adkins, Janet Gladd, and Owen Barnes; brother-in-law, Odell Edwards; and many beloved nieces, nephews, friends, and border collies. Visitation 1 to 8 p.m. Friday, with family present between 5 and 7 p.m., at Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home in Douglass. Funeral 10 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at First Christian Church, Douglass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Douglass Public Library, or to assist with the care of Cecil's remaining Border Collies, c/o Cina Shirley.
