Catherine Margaret Baxter, 89, peacefully passed away with family at her side Sunday, January 2, 2022.
Visitation 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, at Smith Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby. Rosary 10 a.m. Thursday, Funeral Mass 10:30 a.m., both at St. Mary Catholic Church, 2300 E. Meadowlark, Derby.
Catherine graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1953. She worked as an RN at St. Francis and St. Joseph hospitals and clinic for over 40 years. Catherine was an avid gardener and could often be found tending to her massive vegetable garden or one of her many flowerbeds, especially her beloved irises. She attended daily mass, gave her time and talents to the church, and had an unwavering faith. She was a natural caregiver to all and loved spending time with family, she was the “hostess with the mostest” any given Sunday afternoon and always did the holidays up extra special. She was truly one of a kind. Her warm smile and kind heart will be greatly missed and so fondly remembered.
Catherine was preceded in death by her cherished husband of 59 years, Dee, son, Ronald, parents, Fred and Emma Loibl, and four of her siblings. Survived by brother Richard Loibl, children David (Kim), Karen (Frank) Felts, Sherri (David) Clark, and Lori Truex, 26 grandchildren, and 58 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with St. Mary Building fund, 2300 E. Meadowlark, Derby, KS 67037, and Harry Hynes Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202.
