Casey Jay Monk
Casey Jay Monk (37) of Derby, Kansas passed away 02/19/2024, Joining his beloved Mother in heaven who preceded him by 6 months. His unexpected loss has left his already grieving family reeling as they face the loss of another loved one in such a short amount of time.
Casey was born on 11/25/1986 in Wichita, Kansas to parents Debra and Kelly Monk. He was the eldest
child with 2 younger brothers, Kyle and Cory. Casey attended Derby High and was one of 2 siblings to
further his education after high school attending Wichita Technology Institute where he received Technical Certificates for welding and composites manufacturing . Casey tried his hand at many professions during his life working jobs in construction, the restaurant industry, Security, Manufacturing and Aerospace. For the last 5 years he worked as a Fuselage Assembly Mechanic at Spirit AeroSystems.
He took great pride in his mechanic skills and loved the people he worked with. He had many great friends at Spirit and they helped him through many struggles. For many years Casey had a passion for fitness, working out every day and spending long hours at the gym. His commitment to never miss a day in the gym and tough workout routines caught the attention of fellow gym goers developing into many friendships. Casey was a very generous person and would often go out of his way to help someone in need. Casey was a huge animal lover, there were many times he’d show up at home with stray cats or dogs to help them. One of those strays a feisty feline named Ferb ended up sticking around and spent many years as Casey’s companion. Casey was an extremely loyal person when it came to family and to those that he loved. He especially loved his children and longed for a traditional family of his own.
He was preceded in death by his Mother, Debra Monk, her passing was extremely difficult for Casey.
Casey is survived by His father, Kelly; Brothers, Kyle and Cory; Children, Daughter Peytan and Son Layton.
and also a son Kooper Weaver.
Memorial Service: Saturday, March 2nd, 2024, 2:00 PM at Smith Family Mortuary Chapel 1415 N. Rock
Rd. Derby, Kansas 67037. Inurnment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
