Carrie Merleen (Mohr) Lindsey, 81, of Derby, Kansas passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026 at Wesley Hospital. A celebration of life will take place 10:00 am Monday, April 13, 2026 at Woodlawn United Methodist Church, 431 S. Woodlawn Blvd., Derby, Ks.
Carrie was born on February 10, 1945 in Wichita, Ks. She graduated from Bethany Nazarene College (Southern Nazarene University) in Bethany, Okla. with a degree in Teaching. Carrie spent over 50 years (USD 260 Derby Middle School) in education full time teaching and continued as a Substitute teacher after retirement.
Carrie loved Boating, Bowling, Gardening, reading and driving her Corvette.
Carrie was preceded in death by her parents Merle and Aletha Mohr, sister Maymie Baldridge, and twin sister Mary Shirleen Mohr. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Grady “Tim” Lindsey, child Chris Timothy Lindsey and his wife Tamie; two grandchildren Timothy R Lindsey and his fiancé Melissa Ball, and Shelbie M. Hare and her husband Connor, and one Great Grand Daughter Emery E. Hare.
Carrie will be remembered for her kindness, unwavering integrity and love for her family. Her smile and wisdom were a gift to everyone she knew.
Viewing will be held on 2-4pm Sunday April 12, 2026 at Smith Family Mortuaries, 1415 N. Rock Rd. , Derby, Ks. Celebration of Life 10am Monday, April 13, at Woodlawn United Methodist Church, 431 N. Woodlawn Blvd. Derby, Ks.
