Carol Wood

Carol Ann Wood, 84, entered eternal rest on July 18, surrounded by family. Carol was born August 9, 1938 in Weatherford, OK to Ernest and Minnie Crain. She grew up in Orange County, CA where eventually she met, and married Kenneth (Ken) Wood of Garden Grove, CA. They married in 1958 and enjoyed 53 years together. Ken and Carol had three children: Richard, Noriene, and Tom. Carol taught school for many years, predominantly in Santa Rosa, CA where Ken and Carol raised their family. Once the kids were grown, they moved to Jackson, WY where Carol learned and enjoyed painting and Stained/Fused glass art. Ken and Carol moved from WY to Hawaii, Arizona, Mexico, then back to Santa Rosa, making great friends in every place they lived. After Ken passed, Carol moved to Kansas, where she thrived volunteering and enjoying time with her family and great friends. Carol is survived by her sons: Richard (Craig Nesler) and Tom (Laura), grandchildren: Kristi (Michael Fry), Katherine, Richard (Chelsea), and Kristopher, and six great grandchildren.

Carol has been reunited with Ken, her parents, her brother (E. Gene Crain), her daughter and son in law (Noriene Suzanne and Jim Gildner), and her grandson (Steven Gildner). Memorial Service will be Monday, July 24th at 11:00am at Smith Family Mortuary Chapel, 1415 N. Rock Road, Derby, KS 67037.
