Carol Vaunita Glenn-Walter was born on the family farm in rural Cunningham, Kansas, on November 22, 1937, to Elmer Raymond and Elva Racheal Waters-Glenn. She passed away on February 11, 2024, following a courageous battle with lung cancer that began in May 2017.
Carol was affectionately called "Cookie" by family members and grew up on the Glenn Family Farm with her four siblings: Calvin, Pat, Dallas and Ken.
She met her husband, Carroll "Walt" Walter on the McConnell Air Force Base in Kansas and they had their first date on Valentine's Day in 1956. The two were married only a few months later on September 15th of the same year. Following their marriage, Carol went on to work in Civil service at most of the bases in which Walt was stationed.
Carol retired from McConnell Air Force Base on January 3, 2003 to spend more time with her children and grandchildren. Her eldest daughter, Robin Michelle was born on September 1, 1957 while Walt and Carol were stationed at McConnell Air Force Base. Their second daughter, Melinda Rene', was born on April 1, 1968, just days after Walt received orders for Hawaii.
Many are left to cherish Carol's witty sense of humor and her love for encouraging others. She is survived by her son-in-law and daughter, Tom and Robin Puent, of Wichita, Kansas, and grandson, Steve. She is also survived by son-in-law and daughter, Loren and Rene' Swor, of Duncan, Oklahoma, and her three granddaughters, Savanna Canady (Jonathan), Hope and Jill Swor; brothers, Dallas (Venna) and Ken (Marilyn); sister, Patricia; sister-in-law, Charlene; many nieces, nephews, and countless friends she cherished.
Carol is predeceased by both of her parents; brother, Dr. Calvin Glenn; and husband of 41 years, Carroll "Walt" Walter.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Victory in the Valley, Inc, American Cancer Society, or any other organization that is intent on future research of cancer cures as well as encouraging patients and families.
"Cookie" left us with these final words, "My family is always first and foremost in my heart. I would like to be remembered as a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend."
Carol's family would like to express our eternal gratitude to Sonja, Geri, and Rose for your loving care of mom the last few months of her life.
