passed away Thursday, July 14, 2016. Visitation 1-8 p.m., With family receiving friends from 5 -7 p.m. Friday, July 15, at Smith Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby, KS 67037. Funeral service 1:00 p.m., Saturday, at Pleasantview Baptist Church, 1335 N. Buckner, Derby, KS 67037. Carol was born February 24, 1929 in McCune, KS the daughter of Hugh and Nellie (Dye) Scherer. On August 4, 1950 she married Dr. Charles L. Wood in Stillwater, OK. She was a loving pastor's wife, mother, secretary, and planned giving consultant. Carol graduated from Stillwater Oklahoma High School in 1947, she earned her BA in business education from Oklahoma A&M (Now Oklahoma State University) in 1951, and worked on her graduate studies at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX. She is survived by her husband, Charles; daughters, Mary Wood and Susan (Bob) Ferstl all of Derby; grandchildren, Kevin (Josie) Ferstl, Derby; great grandchildren, Norah, Graham, and Laurel Ferstl; siblings Patricia Baker, Edmond, OK, and Mary Lou (Dr Joe ED. D.) Gunn Broken Arrow, OK. Carol was preceded in death by her parents; brother Richard Scherer; sister Helen Nemecek.
