Lette, Carla Anne passed away on Tuesday, July 20th at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Carla was born on November 1, 1937, in Oklahoma City. She married her best friend and only husband on April 27, 1956. Carla, as a dedicated military wife, traveled with her husband to numerous states and countries while growing their family. Carla, her husband Carlos, and her six children moved to Udall in 1974, but left shortly after receiving military orders to Germany. Upon Carlos’ retirement from the US Air Force, she and her family returned to Udall in 1978 where she lived until her passing.
Upon returning, she went to work as an office manager for Hartford Insurance until she retired. Carla’s life in Udall was filled with volunteering and giving back to the community she loved so much. She was a Boy Scout Leader for 5 years, a Girl Scout Leader for more than 20 years, she served on Udall’s Library Board, Senior Citizens Board, and the Udall Planning Commission and Cooperates. Carla was also a member of the Legion of Mary and the Altar Society at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Mulvane for many years, serving the Catholic community.
Carla was preceded in death by her husband Carlos Lette, adopted siblings Henry Harris and Sally Hall, and parents Fred and Ruth Harris.
She is survived by brother, Fred Harris; children and their spouses, Carlos [Julia] Lette Jr, Christopher [Jennifer] Lette, Jeannine [Ernie] Daniels, Nicholas [Sheila] Lette, Denise [Randy] Kistler, Gennifer [Michael] Melcher.
Carla was a devoted grandmother to her 20 grandchildren and their [spouses] which include:, Abriel [Kipp] Wuellner, Nathaniel [Lindsey “Birdie”] Lette, Amanda [Tim] Rockliffe, Benjamin [Summer] Lette, Aaron Lette, Emily Lette, Jessica [Tim] Barrientos, Nichole Wallace, Jeffrie [Reona] Wallace, Chelsea [Billy] Upton, Kaylee [Keith] Ward, Alisha [Ryan] McQuillan, Sarah Lette, Drake Lette, Andy [Deandra] Kistler, Josiephine [James] Breitkreutz, Skylor [Chanea] Kistler, Tylor [Sky] Kistler, Gregory [Silvia] Melcher, Guinevere [Ryan] Morton. Her 24 great-grandchildren include: Madelyn Wuellner, Kaden Wuellner, Kameron Wuellner, Oliver Lette, Lila Lette, Asher Rockliffe, Roman Rockliffe, Riley Lette, Analisia Barrientos, America Barrientos, Aurora Wallace, Rourke Wallace, Jasper Wallace, Kinzey McQuillian, Hunter McQuillian, Lily Kistler, Lincoln Kistler, Sawyer Lette, Peyton Breitkreutz, MaKyna Breitkreutz, Cannan Kistler, Sofia Melcher, Elijah Morton, and Athena Wallace. Carla will be greatly missed by family and friends all over the United States and overseas.
Visitation will be 1-5pm Monday, July 26, 2021, at Smith Mortuary, 501 SE Louis Blvd, Mulvane. Recitation of the Rosary will follow at 6:30 pm at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 525 E Main St, Mulvane. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10am Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Udall Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with St. Jude Children’s Hospitals, Harbor House Domestic Violence Shelter, and St. Michael’s Catholic Church.
