Belle Plaine – Hansard, Carl Max, age 71, retired BNSF Railroad conductor/brakeman, passed away at his home on January 12, 2011. Visitation 1-8pm on Sunday with family present 6-8pm at Hatfield-Smith Funeral Home 219 W. 2nd, Belle Plaine. Funeral service, Monday 1pm at the First Baptist Church, 612 N. Linden, Belle Plaine. He was born October 1, 1939 in Belle Plaine, to Elmer and Helen (Utt) Hansard. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Gary and Clarence Hansard, aunts, uncles, cousins and a nephew. He is survived by Marjorie Hansard; children, Terry Hansard and Melissa Arndt; grandchildren, Matthew and Michael Arndt, the lights of his life; Robert (Ashley) Hansard, who he was so proud of for currently serving in the US Army; Kayla (Adam Plott), Amanda and Terry Joe; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Kaiden and Allison; 1 sister; nieces, nephews, uncle, aunts, cousins, many friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Chakravarti Research Laboratory at John Hopkins University for the research of Hirschsprung Disease.
