Calvin Earl Kinney, age 89, loving husband, father, grandfather, and retired Beech Aircraft employee, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2016. Visitation 1-8 pm Friday, January 6, funeral service, 1 PM Saturday, January 7, both at Smith Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby. Calvin and his wife, Iris were lifelong members of First Christian Church, now known as South Rock Christian Church, where they started the tradition, that continues to this day, the Thanksgiving dinner for senior citizens. After retiring he started Grandpa's Bike Shop, where he rebuilt and refurbished used bicycles for children who needed them. Calvin is preceded in death by his wife, Iris Mae Kinney; parents, Calvin H. & Gladys Kinney; brother, Bruce; sister, Pearl; and baby sister, Patty. Survivors include his son, Donald Dewayne Kinney (Patsy), of Wichita; daughter, Sharon Kinney, of Derby; brothers, Gene Kinney, Shaddock, OK, Don Kinney (Markie), of Skistook, OK, and Thad Kinney (Gail), of Cresent, OK; sister, Lorene Denton, of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Scott, Michelle, Christina, Christopher, Jacqueline, Michael, Greg, Angie, Jared, and Andrea; 19 great -grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
