Byron Jay "BJ" Bradley of Wichita, Kansas died Wednesday, July 26, 2023 peacefully at his home after a long and brave battle with illness.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, August 2nd at Culbertson-Smith Mortuary, 115 S. Seneca, Wichita, Kansas 67213. Recitation of the Rosary 9:30 am, Thursday, August 3, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Chapel of Two Hearts, 645 N 119th St W, Wichita, KS 67235. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 am following the Rosary.
Byron's family remains in awe of his continued positivity for life even throughout difficult times. His skill of construction, electrical, plumbing and mechanical forged great friendships early in his career path. His love of big trucks and engines was greased by hauling and towing anything and everything coast to coast. BJ's passion for aerostructures at The Boeing Company then Spirit Aerosystems, Inc. as an operations specialist and machinist gave BJ opportunities to solve complex manufacturing concerns on various programs throughout his aerospace career.
Byron was born in North Kansas City, Missouri. His love of the outdoors developed early where boating, hunting and fishing were the popular pastimes and continued when family moved to Wichita. He graduated from Wichita South High School and went to Friends University on a football scholarship. He apprenticed with the legendary Blackbear Bosin and continued to develop his artistry in various medium as well as tinkering on fast cars and motorcycles. Byron Jay was a long-standing worthy noble of the Mystic Shrine, Median Temple of Wichita, freemason of Albert Pike Lodge #303 & Scottish Rite Supreme Council 33 degrees.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Susanne; father-in-law Raymond Bujarski Sr; sister Sandi Cole; nieces Amanda and Alisha Bradley, Jennifer Cole, Lillian Bujarski and Gracie Brooks; nephews Chris Cole, Jeff Cole, J Eric Bujarski, Andrew Bujarski, Kevin Bujarski and RJ Hines; great niece Destinie Ross; great nephew Conner Cole; great nephew Oli Dixon. He is preceded in death by his parents Ervin "Ray" and Lorraine (Pooler Crenshaw) Bradley; his brother, Larry R. Bradley and great niece Konstance Harris, Byron loved visiting with his in-laws, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Not one person who crossed paths with Byron Jay "BJ" would want for the necessities required to move forward whether it be a helping hand on a house, garage, boat or motorcycle project or a compassionate ear to simply listen. He combined humor with wisdom, listening with laughing and the ability of making everyone feel like the most special person in the room. His idea of a good vacation was one in which he could help family with projects. He will be missed.
