Brice P. Watson, 99, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. Funeral services 10am Friday, June 19, 2026, at the Derby Church of Christ.
Brice was preceded in death by his first wife of 56 years, Ruby Watson, and his second wife of 15 years, Jean Watson. He is survived by his son, David Watson (Huriye) of Northeast, MD; daughter, Janet Gonsalves (Joe) of Derby; and stepdaughter, Karla Harrison (Rusty) of Mulvane.
He leaves behind many beloved grandchildren: Cauren Hastings (Brandon) and their children, Addison and Korbin; Ian Hogue (Ashley); Shayla Peterson (Rusty); Lizzy Druvenga; Kathy Clark; and Adam Gonsalves (Latisha) and their children, Lyric and Sage. His step-grandchildren include Kim Pinaire (Matt) and Ross Harrison (Sarah) with their two children. Brice was blessed with nine great-grandchildren.
Born in 1926 on a farm near Wheeless, Oklahoma, Brice was the son of Lloyd and Herma Watson.
A devoted member of the Derby Church of Christ, Brice had a deep and enduring faith. He was humble, generous, and always ready to help others. Brice was known as a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He cherished time with his family, taking them on vacations and sharing his Christian values with his grandchildren.
Brice worked as a shipper for the Cessna Aircraft Company for 25 years, retiring in 1998. A true jack-of-all-trades, he also worked in a machine shop and at Mulvane Dillon’s grocery store. His strong work ethic and dedication were well known.
An active member of the Derby Recreation Center, Brice was recognized for walking several miles daily and inspiring others to live a healthy lifestyle. He was honored with the Wellness Award for his commitment to fitness. Brice was also an avid bowler who bowled on two bowling leagues, where he formed many special friendships.
Though he served just 18 months near the end of World War II, Brice was very proud of his service to our country.
Brice Watson will be remembered as a loving, faithful Christian and hard worker whose legacy lives on in his family and community.
