Bret Flowers, 67, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on September 18, 2025. He was born in Wichita, KS, the son of Larry and Judee Flowers.
Bret was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Judee Flowers; his brother, Jim Flowers; and his grandparents, Bill and Harriet Hundley and Luther and Agnes Flowers.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marilyn Flowers; his siblings Debbie Moulds (Randy) and David Flowers; his children, Jennifer Pierpoint, Julie DeWitt (Zach), Jamie Geier (David), Christina Murphy (Robert), Amanda Hagan (John), Brian Flowers, Shane Flowers, Jacob Flowers, and Josh Flowers; and his beloved grandchildren, Gabby, Emma, Aubrey, Abby, Lucy, Lizzy, Liam, Lexi, JoJo, Reagan, Owen, Amelia, Luke, Matthew, and Teddy.
He joined the National Guard in 1975, where he used his eye for detail and creativity in photography to capture meaningful moments during his service.
Bret lived a life full of passion, purpose, and endless curiosity. A proud entrepreneur and skilled craftsman, he wore many hats over the years: he ran his own landscaping business, co-owned Basics and Beyond Automotive, and even taught country western dance. There was little he couldn't fix, whether it was a car engine, a broken heater, or a household appliance. He had a natural gift for music, often picking up an instrument and coaxing out a melody without missing a beat.
Bret also had a wide range of hobbies that reflected both his creativity and his playful spirit. He enjoyed wedding photography, woodcarving, and dancing, but also loved baking with his daughters and grandchildren. He was known for his sense of humor and delighted in playing jokes on those he loved.
Curious and inquisitive by nature, Bret was always learning, always creating, and always sharing his knowledge with others. He never met a stranger and had a remarkable ability to make people feel seen and valued. It was said he was on a first-name basis with people all over the city, simply because he cared enough to get to know them.
