Brent Steven Dickerson

Brent Dickerson left Earth to begin his voyage to the final frontier on December 31, 2016. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Steven Dickerson; grandfathers, Ronald Dickerson and Donald Morgan; and all the saints who have gone before them. He leaves behind his wife and first officer, Laralyn; son, Liam; parents Carol and Daniel Schmidt; sister, Breann Dickerson; step-brothers Jason Schmidt and family, and Justen Schmidt; grandmothers Bartine Dickerson and Eva Mae Morgan, and lots of extended family, in-laws, and 4 dogs. Brent's new adventure takes him outside our space and time. His presence, love, gentleness, kindness, generosity and quirky sense of humor will be sorely missed.

Brent's Earth adventure began January 24 1987 in Medicine Lodge, KS with Carol and Steve Dickerson, his parents. Growing up, he liked and attempted to emulate Captain America because he always did what was right, no matter what happened. He graduated Campus High School in 2005 and attended York College, York, NE and Cowley Co. Community College. In his adolescent years, he was also involved with the youth group at Emporia Avenue Church of Christ, and making life-long friends at Silver Maple Camp.

Brent and Laralyn were married November 9, 2013 at Lake Afton, and were blessed by the birth of their son, Liam Steven June 30, 2015. Recently, Brent began handcrafting safety razors and administered the Facebook page for Active Self Protection. He loved fire arms, Star Trek, games, family, friends and Jesus. Brent was active with the 47th Street Church of Christ where where his techiness and Trekiness helped him serve by recording Sunday services. He was renovating the congregation's website at the time of his passing.

Visitation will be at Smith Family Mortuary,1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby, KS from 1-6 p.m. on Sunday, January 8, 2017. Funeral services to celebrate Brent's life will be at 47th Street Church of Christ, 601 W 47th St S, Wichita, KS, Monday, January 9, 2017, 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund as been established with 47th Church of Christ.
