Boyd William Ayer

Boyd William Ayer, Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, age 77, passed away in the early morning hours of January 4, 2025 at his home in Wichita, KS. Boyd was born April 21, 1947 in Thomasville, Georgia to parents Captain Elliott Dean Ayer and Marguerite Clark Ayer (Savage).

Boyd was an independent representative for Jostens for 32 years in the South Central Kansas area. He was an amazing man that was loved tremendously by his Family and Friends. If you knew Boyd, you loved him. After retiring from the Jostens business in 2012, Boyd and the Love of his life Cheryl spent a lot of time at their home on Monkey Island at Grand Lake, Oklahoma, enjoying lake life and spending time with many good friends and family. Boyd was also a big supporter of the Shriners children’s hospitals and was a member of the Midian Shrine temple in Wichita, KS as well as a member of the Royal Order of Jesters, Court 76 in Wichita, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elliott and Marguerite, and his brother Fred Ayer.

Boyd is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Cheryl, sons Billy Ayer (Derby, KS), Brady (Ginger) Ayer, (Derby, KS). Grandchildren; Collin (Alejandra Diaz) Ayer, (Chicago, Illinois) Caraline (Davonte Baskin) Ayer, (Wichita, KS) Chandler (Elizabeth DeCristoforo) Ayer, (Wichita, KS) Logan (Alexis) Ayer, (Wichita, KS) George (Dalanie) Ayer (Wichita, KS), Anna Ayer (Haysville, KS) Brittany Rupp (Daniel Brewer) (Derby, KS), Alyssa Rupp (Augusta, KS), Paris Phillips (Derby, KS) Great Grandchildren Aruni Ayer, Frankie Ayer, Emry Ayer, Chelsea Hallacy, Asher Rupp. Nieces: Kimberly (Shannon) McWilliams (Tallahassee, FL) Mindy (Miles) Lee (Crawfordville, FL) Helen Lanning, Athena Griffiths, Alicia Crutcher, Gina Boxberger. Nephews: Matt and Eric Boxberger and many friends who were like family.

Visitation Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Smith Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Road Derby, Kansas 67037. Funeral Service 10:00 am, Friday January 17, 2025 at Woodlawn United Methodist Church 431 S. Woodlawn Blvd, Derby, KS 67037.
