Bonnie Jean Shaw, age 93, of Mulvane, retired secretary for Mulvane High School, passed away, Friday, August 5, 2011. Visitation 1-8 PM Monday with family present 5-7 PM, Senter-Smith Mortuary, 501 SE Louis Blvd., Mulvane. Graveside service 10 AM Tuesday, August 9, 2011, Mulvane Cemetery. Jean was born March 1, 1918 in Chautauqua County, the daughter of John Edward and Amanda Evelyn (Roper) Brown. She graduated from Grenola High School in 1936 and attended Southwestern College, from which she received her teacher’s certificate. She married her High School sweetheart, Floyd C. “Jimmie” Shaw on July 3, 1941. Jean’s primary interest in life was caring for her family. She loved music, painting, handwork and playing bridge. Jean is preceded in death by her husband, parents, her daughter, Carol Jean Nash, brothers, Lloyd, Ernest and Harold Brown; sisters, Lena Kyser and Leona Mosteller. Survivors: include her grandson, Scott Hertlein; son-in-law, David (Dee) Nash, of Sterling; and two great-grandsons. Memorials have been established with The Mulvane United Methodist Church, and The American Diabetes Association. Condolences to smithfamilymortuaries.com
