Atkins, Bob D., 79, passed away on August 17, 2026. He was born in Wichita, Kansas on September 3, 1946, to his parents, Seldon and Lula Atkins.
Bob had a lifelong love of sports, especially golf, tennis, gymnastics, and basketball. He also enjoyed sharing that love of sports with his family, coaching his children in soccer and basketball and always cheering them on. As a young man, he was a proud Boy Scout and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, an accomplishment that reflected his dedication, perseverance, and character.
Above all, Bob had a deep and abiding faith in the Lord. His relationship with God was a guiding force throughout his life, shaping the way he loved others, met challenges, and lived each day with gratitude and purpose. His faith brought him strength, comfort, and peace, and he carried it with him in all that he did.
He had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing, and sailing. He found pleasure being outside, exploring, spending time on the water, and making memories with those he loved. He also took great pride in caring for his lawn and yard. He was meticulous about keeping everything neat, healthy, and perfectly maintained, and his yard was a reflection of the care and attention he brought to everything he did.
He was truly a jack of all trades and had a natural talent for figuring things out. He enjoyed working with computers, woodworking, and taking on projects of all kinds. He could fix, build, or create just about anything, and he was always willing to lend his skills and knowledge to help others.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Tommy Atkins; and sister-in-law, Judy Atkins.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 59 and half years, Sandy Atkins; children, Candie (Mike) Leland, Mike (Angie) Atkins, Steve (Holly) Atkins; grandchildren, Morgan (Alex) Jacobs, Alex (Tehya) Perry, Andres Leland, Karina Leland, Anthony (Rachel) Atkins, Matthew Atkins, Madelyn Atkins, Anna Duntz, Ashley (Caleb Asher) Duntz, Nick (Rae) Atkins, Samantha Atkins, Austin Atkins; great-grandchildren, Otto Jacobs, Nova Jacobs, Aaden Perry, Amelya Perry, and Avery Perry; siblings, Donna Honafius, Vanda (Bobby) Baker, and Dale Atkins.
