Blanche E. Hackney Craft

February 21, 1930 — March 7, 2019

Blanche E. Craft died March 7, 2019. She was born in Elk City, Okla. on Feb. 21, 1930, the youngest of five children of Harold Osmond Wilson and his wife, Johanna (Brady) Wilson. She was the last surviving sibling after the passing of Royce Keithley, Alois Louise, Virgil Glenn and Raymond Everett Wilson.


In April 1949, she married Thomas Hackney, oldest child of George and Etna (Roberts) Hackney of Roosevelt, OK. Thomas and Blanche had three children, Harold George, Mark Eugene and Susan Elaine Hackney. The family moved to the Wichita area in June of 1957 because of a job for Thomas at Boeing.


Her Oldest son Harold Hackney died in Dec. 2009. She is survived by son, Mark Hackney, of Ralston, OK; daughter, Susan Moss and son-in-law, Everett "Sonny" Moss of August, KS; step-daughter Gale Craft of Albuquerque, NM, and adopted grandson Jerry Craft and his wife Jessica of Vienna, VA; daughter-in-law, Patricia Hackney of Lake of the Ozarks, MO; six grandchildren, Robyn (Moss) Chaffin (John), Jacob Moss (Jessica), Theresa (Moss) Donnelley, David Moss (Brandy)John Hackney and eight great-grandchildren.


Visitation: Monday, March 11, 2019, from 5-7 pm at Smith Mortuary Derby 1415 N. Rock Rd. Derby, KS 67037. Funeral Service: 10:00 am, Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at First Presbyterian Church of Derby 324 N. Baltimore Derby, KS 67037. Interment Wednesday at Roosevelt Cemetery in Roosevelt, OK. Memorial contributions may be made to Victory In The Valley, 3755 E Douglas Ave, Wichita, KS 67218.
