Billy Ray Vickery, lovingly known as Bill, age 78, of Wichita, KS, passed away on March 31, 2026 surrounded by his family.
Bill was born on September 25, 1947 in Wichita, KS to Francis and Esther Vickery. He grew up in Wichita, KS where he was the youngest of four boys.
He graduated from Wichita West High School in 1965 and went on to Wichita State University, where he graduated with a degree in Sociology in 1970. Bill had a long career with Boeing's Military Division as a Project Engineer. Outside of work, Bill served as a scout leader with Boy Scouts of America for many years. Coached many of his children's sports teams. Most notably, Bill served as a Minister with the Community of Christ Webb Road congregation where the impact of his service reached far and wide. Bill will be remembered for his generosity to others, his strong faith and his ornery disposition.
Bill is survived by his wife of 56 years Cynthia Vickery, his sons Eric (Julia) Vickery and Aaron (Emily) Vickery and his daughters Stephanie (Wally) Kurdi and Samantha (Jerad) Esser. He is also survived by his grandchildren Benton, Clayton, Railey, Sophia, Michael, Anderson, Emelia and Alden along with 4 grand-cats. Bill is survived by his brother Alvin Vickery and is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Leroy Vickery and Don Vickery.
A celebration of life will be held this summer.
A memorial has been established with the Community of Christ - Webb Road congregation via mail to: 3500 S Webb Rd, Wichita, 67210 to benefit the congregation that Bill so loved.
