Beverly Fairchild

Beverly Jane Fairchild, 81, of Haysville, Kansas, passed away on August 23, 2026. She was born May 27, 1945, in Stafford, Kansas, to Clarence and Laura Lamb and graduated from high school in Macksville, Kansas.

Beverly shared 60 years of marriage with her husband, Gary Wayne Fairchild. They were married August 21, 1966, and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary just two days before her passing. Together, they built a life centered on family, hard work, friendship, and enjoying life together.

Beverly completed Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training in Great Bend, Kansas, and worked at a local hospital in Larned. She later left nursing to work at the local courthouse, where she discovered a new passion for administrative work. That path eventually led her into banking, where she worked as a bank clerk before retiring.

The knowledge and experience Beverly gained throughout her career also proved invaluable to their family-owned trucking business, Rollin F Transport. While Gary was behind the wheel, Beverly handled the books and helped keep the business running from home. Long before GPS became part of everyday life, she was also Gary’s navigator. Family remembers her with maps spread out in front of her and an earpiece in her ear, guiding him through unfamiliar towns, around traffic, and down the right roads. She truly was Gary’s GPS before there was GPS.

Beverly treasured the friendships that came through Gary’s years of work. She especially enjoyed holiday parties, picnics, and celebrations where she and Gary could spend time with friends, laugh, and dance together.

Family was at the center of Beverly’s life. She was the mother of Terri and Travis, grandmother to five grandchildren, and great-grandmother to seven, with another great-grandchild on the way. Beverly shared a special connection with each of her grandchildren—a bond that began from the moment she first held them and remained through the last time she did. Her grandchildren adored her, and being their grandmother was one of the great joys of her life.

Beverly enjoyed the simple things: a good cup of coffee, working puzzles, relaxing on her porch, and listening to the birds. She loved Elvis Presley and especially enjoyed “Love Me Tender,” and she also enjoyed listening to Dwight Yoakam. Beverly had a lifelong love of Mustangs, owning one as a young woman and, years later, another that Gary bought for her.

Beverly was an avid collector of Precious Moments and Mickey and Minnie Mouse figurines. Her collection numbered in the hundreds—enough, the family would joke, for a small museum.

Beverly also knew what she liked—and what she didn’t. After getting caught with Gary and Travis in a terrible storm while boating on Kaw Lake in Oklahoma, she decided boating was definitely not for her. Her family only managed to convince her to get back in a boat one more time.

Beverly is survived by her husband of 60 years, Gary; her children, Terri and Travis; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, with another on the way; and her siblings, Nancy, Dean, and LaDayle. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Laura Lamb.

Beverly will be remembered for the life she shared with Gary, the family she loved so deeply, and the countless everyday moments that made her uniquely Beverly—from dancing with Gary and navigating him across the country from the kitchen table, to enjoying coffee on the porch while listening to the birds.

A service celebrating Beverly’s life will be held September 11, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Smith Family Mortuary 7031 S. Broadway Haysville, KS 67060.
