Beverly A. Darling, 80 passed away peacefully at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas from metastatic cancer on Thursday, June 17, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Loren and Viola "Ilene" Lunsford on August 12, 1940, in Mount Carmel, Illinois.
Beverly is a graduate of Derby Senior High School class of 1958. Studied psychology in 1983 at Wichita State University and attended Central Business College in 1986.
A member of the Church of Christ since 1954, well-versed in her Bible, taught children worship, and a strong advocate in the word of God. Dedicated in the remembrance of her family birthdays with thoughtful and personal written messages within her cards. She adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and showered us all with prayers, hugs, kisses, and greeted each one of us by addressing us as "love." A talented pencil sketch artist, shadow silhouettes, she enjoyed building puzzles, collected recipes, wrote poems and a creative seamstress. She made delicious birthday cakes and the holidays were always filled with our favorite dishes. A TCM enthusiast of Doris Day and John Wayne movies.
She is preceded in death by her sons, William Derrick Darling (2018,) and David Vance Darling (2019). Beverly is survived by her two daughters, Donna Lee (Bennie), and Darlene Knight both of Derby, Kansas, seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Visitation is 1-7pm, family will be present from 5-7pm on Monday, June 21, at Smith Family Mortuary of Derby, Kansas. A graveside service is 10am on Tuesday, June 22, at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, 1806 N. Oliver Ave, Wichita, Kansas 67208 at the Atonement section.
In lieu of flowers, Beverly asks for your donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105, to continue the fight against childhood cancer.
