Betty Lou Willis

April 23, 1933 — December 2, 2015

Betty Lou Redick Willis, 82, went to be with Jesus on December 2, 2015 with her family all around her. Betty was born on April 23, 1933 to Cecile and Ray (James) Redick near Gridley, KS. Betty married John B. Willis on March 22, 1959 and they made their home in Mulvane, KS. She worked at Boeing for 10 years from the mid 50s to the mid 60s. They moved to their current residence in Udall, KS in 1966, where Betty became a full time homemaker. While raising their 5 children, she worked at various part-time jobs including decorating cakes. Betty was a long time member of the Udall Rug Club, and a long time member of the Heritage Evangelical Free Church in Udall. Betty enjoyed hooking rugs, camping, and spending time with her large family and many friends. She was known to spoil grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and they all loved her cookies. Betty was an incredibly giving and loving person. She was a great example of what a Godly woman should be. She also loved to sing in church where she was an active member. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers. Betty is survived by husband, John; 5 children: Peggy Stilley (Mike) of Yukon, OK, Penny Dorrell (Mike) of Gove, KS, Dennis Willis (Shelly) of Winfield, KS, Dina Willis of Udall, KS, and Dwane Willis (Jeanel) of Udall, KS; 15 grandchildren, and 27 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the Heritage Evangelical Free Church in Udall, KS. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, December 4, 2015 at Smith Mortuary in Mulvane, KS. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Arkansas City Salvation Army, Heritage Evangelical Free Church or the Kansas Eye Bank. The family would like to thank the staff at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital for everything they did for Betty. View tributes and send condolences at www.SmithFamilyMortuaries.com
