Betty Jo Lyerla, of Derby, age 79, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and retired USD 259 employee, passed away in God’s loving care, Friday, February 28, 2014, after a short illness. Visitation 1-8 PM Saturday, March 1, Smith Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby. Rosary 3 PM Sunday, March 2, Funeral Mass 10 AM Monday, March 3, both at St. Mary Faith Center, 2300 E. Meadowlark, Derby. Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery, Wichita. Betty is preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Holly. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Ken; daughter, Denise Walker (Randy), Wichita; brother, Bob Hand (Esther), Kalispell, MT; sister, Lynn Channer (Don), Wichita; grandchildren, Ryan Walker (Kelly) and Shanda Carney (Peter); great-grandchildren, Emma, Avery, Evan, Alex and one on the way.
