Betty Bishop, age 99, died at her home in Lawrence, where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Monday, December 13, 2021. Betty was born February, 13, 1922, in Elk Basin, Wyoming. When Betty was young, her natural parents and siblings moved to Logan, KS. When Betty was growing up in Barclay, KS, she and her adoptive parents were members of the Friends Church, and she was a member for many years of the Evangelical Covenant Church, both in Scranton and Wichita, KS. She was a farmer's wife before moving to Wichita in 1961, a homemaker and also did some part-time work outside the home. She was an excellent and avid seamstress and loved to care for her indoor and outdoor flowers and plants. She loved caring for children and could always be found in the nursery taking care of the children during morning church services. She was preceded in death by her natural and adoptive parents, her siblings, and her husband R. Keith Bishop, who passed on Deember 13, 2003. In 2005, Betty moved to Lawrence, to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Ward (Dennis), of Lawrence, Kansas; her son, Ray Bishop (Deb), of Boone, Iowa; granddaughter, Katie Gaston (Nick); great-granddaughter, Emma Gaston; and great-grandson, Eli Gaston, of Waterloo, Iowa. Graveside services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, December 17, at Greenwood Cemetery, 6231 W 47th St. S, Wichita. In lieu of flowers or donations, the family requests that you remember Betty by doing a kind deed for an elderly person, be it family, friend, or just someone in need of love, care and attention.
