Belva Eileen Mills

Belva E. Mills 79, loving wife, mother, and grandmother died peacefully in her sleep October 14, 2016. She was born in Lewis, Kansas, to Theodore & Lena (Warfield) Rose on February 9, 1937. She was raised by her uncle & aunt, Arvid & Elva “Toots” (Warfield) Nelson, after the passing of her mother.


She married Robert F. Mills on April 11, 1953, in Marquette, KS. Thorough their love and commitment, they raised five children, Bobby, Brenda, Benny, Andy, and Marty. Over the years, Belva worked in various positons; Derby Police Dispatcher, florist, assistant to Dr. Odulio, and homemaker. She and Robert enjoyed traveling in their travel trailer and motorcycle rides. Several family memories were made on camping trips to Estes Park, Colorado. She also enjoyed playing the organ and spending time with her family and friends.


She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Wayne Rose, Don Rose, Merril “Bud” Rose, Carol Nelson and sister, Hilda LaCoss.


She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, son Bobby (Song) Mills, Brenda (Steve) Straub, Benny (Ludy) Mills, Andy (Doris) Mills, Marty Mills, eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, siblings, Joyce Fuller, Patricia Watermiller, Howard Rose, and Sharon Goble, and many endearing friends.

Services will be at Smith Mortuary, October 21, 2016 at 10:00 am. Burial and graveside service Hillcrest Cemetery, Derby, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice.
