Barbara J. Shapel, 79, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2017. She was born January 23, 1938 to Ernest and Isabell (Burnett) Forshee in Wichita, KS. Barbara owned Barbara's Alterations at her residence in west Wichita for over 30 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, James Shapel. Barbara is survived by her children, Phil (Connie) Shapel and Theresa (Calvin) Startzman; grandchildren, Mistie (Kevin) Vaughn, Marisa McNeil, Shaun Shapel, Jesse Shapel, and Jeremy Shapel; great-grandchildren, Danny Anderson, Garrett O'Hara, and Sophia Vaughn; sister, Sandra Abney; sister-in-law, Phyllis Bullard; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial Service: 2 pm, Monday, September 11, 2017 at Culbertson-Smith Mortuary, 115 S. Seneca, Wichita, KS 67213. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 7829 E. Rockhill St. #403, Wichita, KS 67206.
