Audrey Dean Rowles, a devoted mother, grandmother, and beloved member of the Derby, Kansas community, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025, at the age of 87.
Born on October 23, 1937, in La Junta, Colorado, and raised in Scranton, Kansas, Audrey carried the strength and spirit of the Midwest throughout her life. She built her home and raised her family in Derby, Kansas, where she lived for many years.
Audrey is survived by her two sons, Tod (and his wife Becky Rowles) and Scott (and his wife Jen Rowles); her cherished granddaughters, Skye Rowles and Faith Copelin; her loving sister, Carolyn; and her dear nieces, Annette Gruba and Marietta Probst. She was preceded in death by her loving husband and life partner Gary Rowles, whose memory she held close throughout her later years.
A loving mother and wife, Audrey was a remarkable woman—strong, independent, attentive, and deeply devoted to those she loved. She served as a constant source of wisdom and encouragement, and her strength and grace left an enduring mark on her family. She was a successful role model whose influence will echo for generations.
Audrey’s presence, her resilience, and her generous heart will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
A service will be held to honor her life May 2, 2025, 10:30 am at Rose Hill United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Kansas Humane Society in Audrey’s memory.
