Aubry Leroy Adams

Aubrey Leroy Adams was born to Oral Adams and Sally (Wheeler) Adams. He was born the baby brother and number eight of eleven children. His growing up years and schooling occurred in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. He got his GED and joined the United States Air Force. He served 2 tours in Thailand during the Vietnam War as an aircraft mechanic. During such time, he had a penpal, Janette M. Tharp, to whom he married 10 days upon his return home from his second tour. From this union, two children were born Angela (Todd) Exley of Udall Ks and Aaron Adams of Wichita Ks. As well as two children they loved as their own, Stacey (Jesse) Alan of Rose Hill Ks and Heather (Joel) Salas of Wichita, Ks.

They made their home in Udall Kansas, a little community that they loved big and the place they settled their whole married life.

Lee worked in many jobs to provide for his family, including the City of Udall, Canteen Vending Co, PTL Construction, and Boeing/Spirit Aerosystems.

For the last years, Lee and Janette have spent much time camping, fishing, traveling and spending as much time as they can with their family, especially the grandkids. Papa Lee's love for fishing was shared by his children and grandchildren. He taught them how to bait the hook, reel 'em in, and the proper way to fillet a fish down by the waterside. Sometimes when the fish weren't biting, it was just a fun day in the boat. But that was fine, because Papa could tell jokes all day long. He had so many jokes, he decided to write them down, and number them. Number 13 was always the best. If you know, you know!

You could also find Lee watching his favorite teams: the Kansas City Chiefs and the KC Royals.

Lee was a member of New Life Chapel (The Grove) for more than 40 years, he played the guitar on the worship team and faithfully served as Deacon and Elder at the church. He loved his church family very much. Recently, he watched church online.

Lee also loved going to visit the veterans at the Robert J Dole Veteran's Hospital in Wichita, and at the Kansas Veteran Home in Winfield. You could find him in the cantena, just chatting and making new military friends each visit.

Lee is survived by his wife, children, and 19 grandchildren: Ethan (Kaile), Ariel (David) , Krystin (Unmesh), Colton (Sabrina), Bekah(Josh) Brayden, Faith(Matthew), Connor Danielle, Brittany (Josh), Seth, Morgan, Aubree, Cayden (Chloe), Breanna (Jeremiah), Anthony, Gracie, Trinity, and Tessa, and 5 Great Grandkids: William, Layahh, Micheal, Lennon, Leilani, and 3 more on the way! He is also survived by one brother, Robert "Bud" (Betty) Adams, 3 sisters, Ava Blanchard, Nadene (David) Clayton, and Pattie (John) Everhart.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, 5 sisters: Lillian (George) Murray, Eliene (Gaylord) Hopkins, Iva (Carl) Sory, Violet Adams, Darlene Sullivan, as well as one brother: James "Jim" (Helen) Adams.

Services will be held at The Grove Church in Udall Ks beginning at 10am on Saturday, August 1, 2026.

Interment will be private at a later date.
