Aubrey Simmons

April 30, 1977 — March 4, 2022

Aubrey Gail (Kingsley) Simmons, an exceptional elementary school teacher and resident of Haysville, KS, lost a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer on March 4, 2022 at the age of 44.

Aubrey was a wife, daughter, sister, and friend to many. She is survived by the love of her life, husband Brady Simmons and beloved dog Shiloh; parents Roger (Debbie) Kingsley, Gail Kingsley; in-laws Dorman and Ardith Simmons; grandmother Alberta Kingsley; siblings Ryan Kingsley, Lindsey (Jeff) Brummett, Kelsey (James) DeBusk, Daylon Kingsley, Dr. Shawn (Tanya) Simmons, and Scott Simmons. She was a proud aunt of Autumn, Kyra, Lillie, Ruby, Abe and Annabelle.

Aubrey was born on April 30, 1977 in Wichita, KS and graduated from Goddard High School in 1995. She was a proud Shocker, graduating with her bachelors and masters degrees from Wichita State University in Education. She then lived her dream career as a teacher for 10 years, most of those at Freeman Elementary School in Haysville. She loved her students and had a special knack for helping those who needed extra support, especially in reading. Helping her students grow and succeed was her joy.

She loved antiquing, traveling (especially to New Orleans), watching Royals baseball (especially Rex Hudler's commentating) and singing. Music was a lifelong passion and she used her skills while a member at Haysville United Methodist Church.

Aubrey had a way of bringing laughter to any situation and her smile will be remembered and missed by many. Her desire to care for others was seen by everyone who had the honor of knowing her.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Haysville United Methodist Church in Haysville, KS. There will be no graveside service. The family is asking in lieu of flowers, people bring what Aubrey always requested for Christmas- school supplies to be donated to Freeman Elementary (folders, notebooks, pencils, markers, etc.).
