Atha Ola Moore, 94, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2018. She was born December 25, 1923 to Henry and Lena (Wall) Franks. Atha Ola Franks spent most of her life growing up on a farm.She helped with the chickens and harnessing a Jenny Mule to help work the fields. What an amazing full life she lived from a time when her family traveled two days by wagon from Caldwell to Wellington, then by cars, and next to watching a man landing on the moon. Then women’s right to vote, which she was a true Democrat. 1941: She married at 18 to the love of her life Harold Moore. During this part of her life with Harold grew her passion for large gardens and flowerbeds with Lillys, mums, roses, irises of many colors, shrubs, and hens & chicks plants. She had no children. Her constant companions were miniature black poodles, which had human names.(Jamie, Benji, Jody, Tony, and Lisa. Mitzi Ann was her last surviving black poodle.) Her dogs went on trips, vacations, family events, and even to meet the president of the United States(Bill Clinton). Her dogs were considered part of her family. Her favorite pastimes were watching baseball & basketball games. She was a true Wichita State Shocker fan. Atha was a strong independent woman. She is remembered as a classy gal that would wear beautiful hats, gloves, matching earrings and necklaces, and of course high heels. Atha was a member of the Popular Avenue Church of Christ. Her believe was that you give to the church, DAV, and the Democratic Party. Her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ was with her throughout her fight against cancer. “ I still don’t have a lot of pain in my head. It is just in my jaw, so I’ll hang in there as long as I can.” Atha was well known for the beautiful handwritten cards and letters she would send to her family and love ones ending with..”I love you all! Aunt Atha Moore” She will truly be missed by her family and friends! She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Moore; siblings, Margurite, Martha, Joe, Josie, Preston, Etta, Evelyn, and Charles. Atha is survived by her brother, Preston Martin Franks; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Funeral Service: 3 pm, Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Poplar Avenue Church of Christ, 600 S. Poplar St., Wichita, KS 67211. Private interment to follow at Belle Plaine Cemetery.
