Smeltzer, Arthur Max, age 81, passed away Saturday, September 18, 2010. Visitation 1-8 PM Tuesday with family receiving friends 5-7 PM, Smith Mortuary 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby. Funeral service 2 PM Wednesday, Woodlawn United Methodist Church, 431 S. Woodlawn. Max was born May 13, 1929 in Emporia, KS, the son of Arthur and Georgia (Ramsey) Smeltzer. On July 17, 1949, he married Agness Collins in Dighton, KS. While living in Derby, Max was a store manager of OTASCO, before entering real estate. He worked for the Warren Company and later was a broker for Plaza Del Sol. He sold real estate for over 18 years before retiring. Max served as a member of the Derby City Council for 14 years and was a big supporter of the DRC. He is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Sharon. Survivors include his wife, Agness; sons, Allan (Susie), of Augusta, Paul (Oleta), of Derby; daughter, Nancy (Fred) Bonner, of Wichita; brother, Mark (Raylene) West, of Dighton; sister, Neoma (Ron) Conner, of Dighton; grandchildren, Brent Pullen, Kim (Kelly) Greenlee, Justin (Nancy) Smeltzer, Angie Smeltzer, Lisa Smeltzer, Jacob (Katrina) Smeltzer, Adam (Kristiana) Smeltzer; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson, many nephews and nieces.
