Arthur Laing

Laing, Arthur “Art”, beloved Daddy and Grandpa, 93, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2011. Visitation 1-8 p.m. Wednesday, funeral service 2 p.m. Thursday, both at Smith Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby. Art was a farmer, carpenter and WWII Army Veteran. He was also a Mason, a hunter and fisherman and was the 396th person hired by Cessna. All who knew him will remember his kind heart, gentle spirit and wonderful sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 58 years, Harriet (Cary) Laing. Survived by his children Lynn (Frank Beauchamp) Newfarmer and Lana Frank; grandchildren Logan Newfarmer, Bree Beauchamp, Rana Frank, Russell Frank; great-grandson Kyndon Lee Boardman, and family friends Howard and Saundra Wells. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with MeadowBrook Safeharbor Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 780531, Wichita, KS 67278.
