Andrew “Andy” Robert Jacques, 54, passed away Monday, November 20th, 2023. He was born March 14th, 1969, to Robert and Mary Jacques in Wichita, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents Mary and Robert; brother-in-law, Tim Elam; and niece, little Mary. Survivors include his wife, Gail; son, Ayden; sister, Lisa Elam; and nephews, Wesley, Zachary, and David.
Andy spent his formative years growing up in Mulvane, KS and graduated from Mulvane Senior High School in May 1987. A creative at heart, Andy attended both Marymount College of Kansas and Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, KS earning a degree in Photography and Communications in 1992.
In June of 1992, Andy married the love of his life, Gail (Fredricks) in Hastings, NE, thus starting their many adventures together. Always with a focus on being there for each other, they enjoyed spending their time experiencing the great outdoors, taking photographs, fishing, and camping. In 2008, Andy and Gail welcomed their son, Ayden, into their lives, turning their whole world upside down in the best way possible.
Professionally, Andy contributed his tremendous talent and energy to Butler Community College in El Dorado, KS for 24 years. Having started out as a technology student, Andy ultimately earning his way up to become Director of Web Service. Putting his keen eye for photography and design to work, Andy inspired many students and colleagues, and kept them on their toes with his quick wit and dry sense of humor. Andy truly loved to laugh and make others laugh. But also, he was someone to count on for some words of wisdom, if you just needed to talk.
Personally, Andy and Gail felt the call to service by teaching, mentoring, and guiding young minds. They were blessed to run the Cub Scout program at the Church of the Magdalen for many years. Andy genuinely felt rewarded by giving his Scouts new and different adventures, providing opportunities to learn and grow. These opportunities may not have been possible to many, were it not for his generosity and creativity – always weaving a little humor and laughter in every experience. Andy’s perpetual curiosity and endless sense of wonder made him an excellent Scout leader.
Andy’s faith and humor saw him through all things big and small. Andy is remembered as a good and loyal servant to his community, a trusted confidant and friend, and a beloved husband and father. The deeper you love the harder it hurts. Andy will be missed.
