Andrew George Hoheisel

Andrew George Hoheisel, 98, flew to his heavenly home on January 21, 2021. He was born February 12, 1922 in Viola, Kansas to John and Katherina (Reitober) Hoheisel. He attended Andale school until 9th grade quitting to work on the farm. He was drafted in the Army in 1942 serving in the 9th armored division which was involved in the Battle of the Bulge in 1944. Upon his return to Kansas, he met and married Gladys Westervelt in 1946. They were married 65 years until her passing in 2012. They lived in Belle Plaine since 1952 while working at Boeing for 34 years and in the evenings, he had a trash service. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion Post #211 and the United Methodist Church. Andrew loved watching the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals. He could tell you anything you wanted to know about the players and their abilities or lack of. He was honored to go on the Kansas Honor Flight in 2013 enabling him to see the memorials and visit with other veterans. The last 3 years he made many friends in Schowalter Villa in Hesston. He enjoyed the day care, dominoes, bingo, hymn sing and the great staff who took care of him. Survivors include; Dennis (Jeannine) Hoheisel, Dean (Debbie) Hoheisel, grandchildren, Jerry, Denae, Angie, Kevin, Brian and Dylan, 8 great grands, 4 great-great-grandchildren, sisters, Louise Ayres, Margie Standiford and numerous nieces and nephew to whom he loved.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys, daughter, Dana, parents, siblings Ed, Roman, Arnold, Vincent and Carmen, grandson, Dustin.

Graveside Service: 1:00 pm, Friday, January 29th, 2021 at Belle Plaine Cemetery, 215 Line Street, Belle Plaine, Kansas 67013.
