Manhattan - Foust, Andrew Mark
U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Andrew Mark Foust passed away unexpectedly Friday, March 8, 2024 at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan. He was 29 years old, and died at peace with God. Born in Wichita, KS on September 1, 1994, Andrew excelled academically in both Augusta and Valley Center School Districts, and graduated from the Kansas Academy of Mathematics and Science at Fort Hays State University in 2013. In addition to his notable achievements in math and science, Andrew was a passionate chess player, qualifying for the National Chess Tournament every year he competed, and as an adult, becoming a world-class Bullet Chess competitor. He also enjoyed and excelled at many creative hobbies using digital art, such as animation and photo-editing. But above all else, his favorite things were singing and being with his family. Karaoke at his mom’s house, especially singing duets with his sister Graycen, were the highlight of every visit home.
Through many ups and downs, Andrew found his calling and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 2020, earning the rank of Senior Airman (and looking forward to his upcoming exam for Staff Sergeant and becoming an NCO) in the 961st Aircraft Maintenance Unit, within the award-winning 18th Wing Maintenance Group. This group was recognized with the 2023 Phoenix Award for best field-level maintenance throughout the entire Department of Defense. A beloved grandson, son, brother and friend, Andrew was known for his brilliant humor, insatiable curiosity, and unassuming friendship. He was uniquely genuine, forthcoming, and warmhearted. His family and friends will remember his contagious laughter, his thought-provoking conversation, and his big hugs. He will be truly missed.
Andrew was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Howard Foust and Richard Grubb. Andrew is survived by his father and step-mother, Nathaniel and Elizabeth Foust; his mother and step-father, Sonya and Sean Elliott; grandparents, Dave and Irene Luna; grandmothers, Barbara Foust, Linda Grubb, Marina Grubb, and Rama Wolken; siblings, Caden Elliott, Graycen Elliott, Ethan Elliott, Alexander Foust, Kelsay McKnight, Kilian Foust, Keeton Foust, Rilee Foust, and Natalie Foust.
A viewing will be held between 5:00 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Smith Family Mortuary of Derby located at 1415 North Rock Road, Derby, Kansas 67037.
