Althea Marie Humbolt

Althea Marie (Smith)Humbolt, 89, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2016. Visitation 2-6 p.m. Sunday; funeral service 10 a.m. Monday, both at Culbertson-Smith Mortuary, 115 S. Seneca. Althea was a standout basketball player in high school, and continued to enjoy watching collegiate basketball all her life. Always a hard worker, she was employed by Cudahy meat packing plant for 29-1/2 years, and Theis meat packing for another 6. Althea was preceded in death by her first husband, Bill Smith; parents Albert and Alice Lee; brothers Tobe, Joe, Arthur, Odell, and O.C.; sisters Annie, Ruby, and Iona. She was the middle child, but the last survivor of nine children. Survived by husband Garland Humbolt; sons Ron Smith and John (Charlene) Humbolt; granddaughter Teresa Marie and step-grandson Jason Christopher. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Reflection Living (with a special thank-you to Meleah Odero) for their genuine kindness in caring for Althea.
